Quinnipiac School
VISUAL IDENTITY
Quinnipiac Magnet School was led by an exceptional principal and a deeply dedicated team of teachers — yet lacked a visual identity to match their vision and passion. This gap felt especially urgent in New Haven's competitive school-choice landscape, where Neighborhood, Magnet, and Charter Schools all vied for attention, making the decision an overwhelming one for parents. As the first New Haven public elementary school to undertake a rebrand, the project carried added weight: it needed to set a benchmark other schools would aspire to.

The resulting identity combined the forms of a seashell and a sun into a distinct symbol — the seashell, inspired by the nearby Quinnipiac River, representing progress, growth, and excellence; the sun at its core symbolizing knowledge, energy, and positivity. Together, they captured the warmth, creativity, and professional excellence at the heart of the school's values.

Working closely with the school's art teacher, I developed creative prompts that were shared with select student artists, who then created original artwork — illustrations and self-portraits — which were woven into the visual language, putting the school's culture, community, and resources front and center.
